30. Williams Water Wall

If you've never visited the Williams Water Wall near the Galleria in Houston, here's your chance to do so and in a romantic way. The setting itself evokes enough emotion to be romantic all on its own, and visiting at night intensifies that feeling all the more. I suggest packing a picnic including a battery operated candle (check Walgreens or Target), set up shop close to the wall and enjoy a secluded dinner - just the two of you. Bring your camera along to capture some spectacular shots of you and your significant other in front of the wall. You can always catch a carriage ride around the park, which is sure to score you double bonus points with your date. After dinner, stroll around the Galleria for a little window shopping, which will give you the opportunity to lay down hints about what you want for your next birthday :)

28. Old School Date Night at the Skating Rink!

Remember back in the day when you lived for Friday night at the skating rink? Mom would drop you off and (hopefully) drive away, leaving you sans parental supervision for a few hours of your miserable parent-infested life. You met up with your clique and flirted with your crush of the week, dedicating songs to him/her with hopes that they'd save the couple's skate for you, just so you could hold hands for 3 minutes and 47 seconds until the song ended. If you were one of the cool kids or promiscuous in your primal years, you hung out in the back on the low benches with no skates trying to make out with your girlfriend while everyone else stared in awe - at least until the security guard told you not to sit on the bench again or he's kick you out. For the athletic in nature, you probably anxiously awaited the races so you could show off your mad skills and be the envy of all your loser friends. Whatever your experience, it's time to revisit it by taking your current steady out for an "Old School Night" at the skating rink!

If you can bear it, make it authentic by grabbing skating rink nachos, over sized pickles and a shared orange soda or even a concocted suicide. Feel free to go on a Friday night to show the new generation how it's really done.

This website provides a list of links to skating rinks by city SESKATE.com. Some rinks provide adult skate nights with old school jams for 18 and up patrons. Have fun!

Inquire about special behind the scenes experiences such as camping out overnight at the zoo and getting an up close and personal look at the animals in their habitat when the sun goes down.

24. Celebrate Earth Day Houston Together!

Nothing says love like hugging. A tree. Celebrate Earth Day 2010 with a little competition between you and your other half; WHO CAN GO GREENEST??!! Make the stakes high (a bet always does the trick - dinner, dancing, laundry, etc - get creative!) See who can go the entire day without creating an ounce of trash and using the least amount of energy. This may require you to spend the entire day together in order to take inventory and decide a winner.

Going green takes effort, and we could all use a little accountability in our lives. Strive towards a greener lifestyle together and encourage each other through reminders and shared ideas. Attend Earth Day celebrations and events around the Houston area through the remainder of the April!

Visit the Citizens' Environmental Coalition website for a full calendar of Earth Day events in the Bayou City.

20. "Neighborhood Night" at Hotel ZaZa

LIVE MUSIC AND ALL NIGHT HAPPY HOUR!

With the launch of "Neighborhood Night" on January 14th, 2010 Hotel ZaZa Houston's Monarch Lounge is destined to become the favorite gathering spot on Thursday evenings. Centrally located in the Museum District, steps away from the Medical Center, Rice University and the surrounding residential neighborhoods, Monarch will offer an unmatched opportunity to relax.

Beginning January 14 Monarch will offer a weekly Thursday "Neighborhood Night" happy hour. From 5 p.m. until close, guests can enjoy beer, wine and well drinks and a selection of delicious appetizers from the Monarch menu, each for $5.00. Select from ZaZa's signature Crispy Calamari Salad with Asian Greens & Sweet Chile Vinaigrette; Rock Shrimp; Burger Sliders with Horseradish Pickle, Red Onion Relish & Smoked Gouda Cheese among other offerings.

Mills, who describes herself as a "bold, blonde entertainer outta the old school" is a native Houstonian. 19. Karaoke Date Night!

A fun group date idea! Houston offers several karaoke stages for the amateur likes of you and me all around the city. Whether you prefer to sing solo and go strong with Madonna or perform a dazzling duet (think Sunny & Cher - I Got You Babe), karaoke is an easy way to shine like the star you are and let your other half embarrass himself!

Choose from several dedicated karaoke bars like Mix Karaoke Lounge, which is swanky, but seemingly exclusive to asian ethnicities. Spotlight Karaoke on the west side of Houston offers private rooms if you have a big date group and a main floor requiring 2 drink minimums to sing; this might work out best in the long run so that you're not aware of how HORRIBLE(LY) awesome you sound!

Other bars in the immediate downtown area transform into karaoke bars for a particular night or nights during the week. To find one close to you, google will be your friend!

18. US Air Guitar Championship - HOB

What better way can you think of to stave off that bad, "Case of the Mondays" than to head to the House of Blues after work, and witness (or take part in) the US Air Guitar Championship in the Bronze Peacock Room. I'll admit, it's no Thunder From Down Under, which you can catch in two days if that's more your style, but the stakes are high for the US Air Guitar Champ. Anyone can enter.

One winner from this competition, and one from each of the 15 other cities where USAG is holding regional competitions, will be flown to New York City in July to compete in the Air Guitar National Finals for the crown of US Air Guitar Champion. The Winner of the National Finals will become The 2010 US Champion, and will win a trip to Oulu, Finland in August to represent the USA in the Air Guitar World Championships, where he or she will represent the stars and stripes against national champions from 20 other countries all around the world. Just beware - competition is steep! (See photo for proof!)

16. Texas Rock Gym

It's a rainy day in Houston, Texas; a great day to take in a movie, browse the museums or just stay at home and veg out. BUT, if you have something more exciting in mind, check out to the Texas Rock Gym. It's indoors, an escape from wet weather, and a great way to build on your relationship. Roped climbing requires you to have a partner to belay, and putting your safety in your partner's hands requires a lot of trust and communication. As an added bonus, rock climbing is a fun and challenging way to get in shape.

7. Romantic Easter Egg Hunt

I'm posting this a few days before Easter so that all you romantics at heart will have time to prepare. Although Easter historically isn't a romantic holiday, you can make it fun for your hunny bunny!

Prepare by buying a dozen or so plastic Easter eggs, which you can find at the grocery or corner store. Fill the eggs with anything your heart desires: chocolates, love notes, little gifts, jewelry, etc. The night before Easter, or the morning of, hide the eggs in the yard, around the house, in the car or wherever you choose. You might even hide them in a nearby park and surprise your love by taking him/her there to find them.

Another idea is dying Easter eggs. It was fun when you were a kid. But, it's still fun and you can still act like a kid. Try using a white crayon to write on the egg before you dye it. Once you dye the egg, the message will appear like magic! If you forgot how to dye Easter eggs, visit this website for instruction: Dying Easter Eggs
